Major Shine

Top designers have been attracted to shiny objects in this Spring 2009 season. On the runway of Balenciaga, metallics were adapted into a new space age look. At Marc Jacobs, metallic yarn, Lurex, was weaved into several different pieces, the most noticed were the sashes worn around the models' skirts. These sashes make for a great high-waisted look and are beautifully crafted, available in different colors. Christopher Bailey gilded several of his looks for Burberry Prorsum this season, with flowy silver frocks and slick trenches and jackets. A standout piece at Chloé was a pair of metallic copper high-waisted harem-like pants with a 70s feel. With plenty of other eye-catching metallics in the collection, Chloé delivered this season. Keep an eye out for this trend in the upcoming fall 2009 season, because it is destined to be a hit.

Trend: Lace Tights and Holiday Dressing

Lace tights are a really hot item that you should have in your closet, they at a bit of flair to any simple outfit, and just look really great on. The New York Times has a really great slide show of photos of some great tights, including some really cute Chanel ones from Fall 08.
Also from the New York Times, was a

slide show on how to dress for the holidays with some really great outfits.

British Vogue November 2008

I really liked this issue of British Vogue, which has Jourdan Dunn, Eden Clark, and Rosie Huntington-Whiteley, on the cover, who are considered the new British beauties.  I know this issue was from last month, but I bought it this month because it's release is delayed in the U.S.
Anyways, the insides of the issue were great, and I really liked this editorial called, "All Night Long," with model Karlie Kloss.  It features looks of glitz and glam, and I just really liked it, so check it out, it's a great issue!

Chanel Pre-Fall 2009

Lagerfeld looks to Russia for his Chanel Pre-Fall 2009 collection.  With a mixture of brilliant and rich reds, giant headpieces that looked like that of crowns and tiaras worn by Russian princesses, to beautiful suits that channeled the strict and tight Soviet Union suits, and the shoes! The shoes were so intricate looking, with heels that looked like the buildings in the Red Square in Moscow.  The show was even complete with mostly Russian models, which really set the tone.  The pack of classically dressed men and women was led by one of the top Russian models, Sasha Pivovarova.

Latest Find

A favorite spot of mine to always hit up when on Melrose Ave. is the Marc by Marc Jacobs store.  If you are not looking to always spend a bundle, Marc by Marc is great because the store carries special items that cannot be found anywhere else, like jewelry, special books, purses, tote bags, and all sorts of other great and fun objects.
I was especially happy when I found this ring there, resembling the very intricate and absolutely adorable heart jewelry in the Marc Jacobs Resort 2009 collection.  At a cheap $18, this ring was a steal, and it is honestly a replica of the heart jewelry in the Resort collection.  In this small line of heart jewelry for the Marc by Marc store, there is also a necklace with the heart, a jeweled bangle, and a jeweled hair clip.  Great accessory to add a bit of pop to any outfit, plus, it caused me to get tons of complements on how cool it was! :]
